A new air conditioning unit was being installed at Hannibal City Hall on Monday morning with the help of a crane.

A troublesome old air conditioning unit was being switched out Monday morning at Hannibal City Hall.

Reportedly the old unit had become more costly to keep operational than it was to purchase and have installed a new air conditioner.

According to a City Hall staff member the old air conditioner cooled the executive offices located on the second floor of the building’s southern and western sides.

“It’s cooler outside than it is in here,” said a City Hall worker.

A crane was utilized to lift the new unit and to lower the old unit.

A D&S Heating and Cooling worker said the installation should wrap up Tuesday.
