USDA recognized the not-for-profit 12-county area North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) June 14 for achievement in serving as a loan intermediary through the Rural Development 502 Single Family Housing Program. The presentation was made as part of the June observance of National Homeownership Month. Presenting the certificate is USDA Area Specialist Janine Stephenson to NECAC President and Chief Executive Officer Don Patrick. Also pictured, from left, are NECAC Deputy Director for Housing Development Programs Carla Potts, Homeownership Programs Director Debbie Smith and Homeownership Specialist Alicia Lopez. NECAC began processing 502 program loans in 2015 and earlier this year was authorized by USDA to become an intermediary to work with non-profit agencies that package the loans for homebuyers in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa, review loan applications and send them to USDA for approval.
