The $1,000 scholarship was presented to Grace Deien of Hannibal. She earned a 4.214 grade point average and plans to continue her education at Truman State University.

A Hannibal High School graduate received a scholarship dedicated to the memory of a lifelong distance runner, learner and music lover.

Joan Walsh established the Tom N. Walsh Memorial Scholarship in memory of her late husband, to help students who shared some of his interests.

Applicants for the scholarship must exhibit one of the following traits to qualify: possess an interest in philosophy or participate as a long-distance runner or drummer — in high school or outside of school.
