The driver of a tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries Thursday morning when the rig he was operating overturned on Paris Gravel Road (County Road 422), approximately two miles west of Hannibal.

The driver of a tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries Thursday morning when the rig he was operating overturned on Paris Gravel Road (County Road 422), approximately two miles west of Hannibal.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) the mishap occurred at 5:55 a.m. when the eastbound semi went off the road and wound up on its passenger side.

The trailer was hauling non-hazardous chemicals, according to the MSHP.

The accident prompted the closure of Paris Gravel Road to through traffic from west of Veterans Road to just east of County Road 418. The road was closed for hours while tow truck personnel worked to unload the trailer and get the tractor and trailer upright.

The driver, 23-year-old Daniel R. Hannah of West Plains, was transported by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital. Hannah was reportedly wearing a safety device at the time of the accident.
