A Hannibal woman is facing charges after it is believed cocaine belonging to her was found in a residence on S. Griffith St.

A Hannibal woman is facing charges after it is believed cocaine belonging to her was found in a residence on S. Griffith St.

Charges against Ramonda Acheampong, 62, of Hannibal, were filed on May 15 in Marion County Circuit Court. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.

According to a probable cause statement filed in the case, Hannibal Police Department officers executed a search warrant in the 400 block of S. Griffith on May 5. Officers apprehended Acheampong and conducted a search on the residence. According to officers, 11 marijuana “roaches” — the burnt end of a marijuana joint — were located along with a small pile of marijuana. When searching the area around where Acheampong was allegedly sleeping, officers found a a white powdery substance in a green pill bottle. The substance field tested positive for cocaine.

A warrant for Acheampong's arrest was field on May 15. As of May 19, she was not listed as an inmate in the Marion County Jail.

A second person in the residence was given a summons to appear for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession.

HPD was assisted by the Ralls County K-9 unit.
