Members of the Palmyra Street Department were removing sections of sidewalk Monday morning on Jefferson Street.

A four-man team of workers from the Palmyra Street Department was busy removing slabs of sidewalk Monday morning. The work was taking place in front of a residence in the 100-block of Jefferson Street.

A backhoe was being utilized to place the pieces of broken sidewalk into the bed of a city-owned dump truck.

According to a worker on site, once all the old concrete has been removed the process of putting in forms will take place in advance of the pouring of new concrete at the location.

When the new sidewalk will be installed is weather dependent, according to the worker, who noted that a chance of rain would linger into the afternoon.
