The executive offices at Hannibal City Hall are being renovated. A fresh coat of paint is being applied and new flooring installed.

The whine of a power saw was an indicator of the work that is underway on the second floor of Hannibal City Hall.

The focus of the facelift are the executive offices.

“They’re painting the walls because wallpaper is falling off,” said City Manager Jeff LaGarce. “They’re putting in tile because the carpeting has holes in it.”

The work is long overdue, according to LaGarce.

“It’s been decades since we’ve done any work of this nature. It will probably be decades before it’s necessary again,” he said.

The work has created challenges for city staff.

“Work will be taking two to three weeks, creating inconveniences, but well worth it in the end,” said LaGarce.
