A Hannibal man facing a felony child molestation charge was bound over to circuit court after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing Monday, March 13.

Brent A. Brinkman, of Hannibal, appeared before Judge John Jackson in the Marion County Associate Court. Public defender Austin Smith represented Brinkman. Marion County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Gareth Cooksey represented the state.

Jackson bound Brinkman over to the Marion County 10th Circuit Court, setting his arraignment hearing for 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 20. Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd will preside over the hearing.

Hannibal police officers arrested Brinkman on Friday, Feb. 24, the same day a warrant was issued by the 10th Judicial Circuit Court charging the defendant with the Class B felony of second-degree child molestation.

Brinkman remains lodged in the Marion County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
