City Clerk Angel Zerbonia said Steven Meyer, who had filed to run for the sixth ward spot, has withdrawn from the race, leaving Jeff Veach as the lone candidate for the spot.

The number of Hannibal City Council positions left to be decided by voters has dropped to two. City Clerk Angel Zerbonia said Steven Meyer, who had filed to run for the sixth ward spot, has withdrawn from the race, leaving Jeff Veach as the lone candidate for the spot.

Zerbonia said that although Meyer has withdrawn, his name will still appear on the ballot.

Should Meyer secure enough votes to still win the election, he will have to refuse the seat, according to an email from Zerbonia.

Jamie Locke currently represents the sixth ward on city council. He is not running for re-election.

Voters in Hannibal’s third and fifth wards will decide on council representation while every voter living in city limits can cast votes on the three propositions and on the race for Hannibal School Board.
