With resignations, sheriff puts the call out for more applicants
Monroe County Sheriff David Hoffman says the county needs deputies.
Two deputies have taken new positions, and with a pending medical leave, the Sheriff’s Office is short on officers to patrol the county, which includes a contract to provide service for the city of Paris.
“We recently hired two deputies but we need more,” Hoffman said last week.
Applicants need to be at least 21 years old, have a valid Missouri Peace Officer’s License and pass an extensive background check. Hoffman says that deputies perform a variety of duties – jail management, patrol and criminal investigations in what he calls a “fast-paced” environment.
Once hired, deputies are required to become a resident of Monroe County. Qualified applicants can visit the Sheriff’s Office to apply or download an application from its website at www.monroecountysheriffsoffice.com.
