A Monroe City man died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident in Ralls County.

A Monroe City man died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident in Ralls County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the mishap happened at 3:35 p.m. Feb. 16 on Route J, six miles south of Monroe City.

The collision occurred when a 2014 GMC Sierra pickup operated by 73-year-old Marshall L. Libby of Monroe City drove into the path of a 2000 Sterling dump truck operated by 75-year-old Willie L. Ragon of Perry. Both vehicles went off the right side of the road, with the pickup coming to rest on the driver's side.

Libby, who was not wearing a safety device when the collision occurred, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:18 p.m. He was taken to the Yager Kendrick Funeral Home in Monroe City.

Ragon, who was wearing a safety device, sustained minor injuries. He indicated he would seek treatment.
