A bridge replacement project on Warren Barrett Drive in Hannibal got underway. The work is taking place just west of Industrial Loop Road.

As had been promised, Warren Barrett Drive was closed at U.S.61 on Monday so that the bridge located just west of Industrial Loop Road can be replaced.

One of the first steps occurring Monday was the removal of guardrails on the north and south sides of the roadway. After being unbolted a piece of equipment was being used to pull the metal railing out of the way.

The project’s contractor, Bleigh Construction, has 120 calendar days to complete the bridge project.

Vehicle traffic is now being detoured onto Market and 30th streets, and then back to Warren Barrett.

According to the MoDOT, 4,100 vehicles used Warren Barrett per day.
