The Zone One Level of the American Legion High School Oratorical Contest will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Emmett J. Shields Post #55 American Legion Post Home at 3891 Highway MM in Hannibal.

The Zone One Level of the American Legion High School Oratorical Contest will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Emmett J. Shields Post #55 American Legion Post Home at 3891 Highway MM in Hannibal. This contest pits the winners of four districts of the Missouri American Legion contests against each other.

Zone One American Legion Oratorical Co-Chairman Bob Ravenscraft said, “This is the fourth level of competition in the 83rd annual National High School Oratorical Contest. Participants deliver a five- to six-minute prepared oration on a phase of the United States Constitution. They are not allowed to use notes, a podium or a sound system.”

The winner of the Zone One contest will proceed to the state finals, held on Feb. 18 in Jefferson City.

The public is invited to attend the contest Sunday. Admission is free.
