A total of 72 artists will participate in this year’s River Art Festival in downtown Hannibal on May 24 and 25, including 15 making their local festival debut. Entertainers always attract crowds of festival-goers, and a stage will be provided for their convenience this year. Michael Gaines, executive director of the Hannibal Acts Council, which sponsors the festival, explained, “we will have a stage again at (North) Main and Bird streets, because it was very successful at the (Autumn Historic) Folklife Festival last fall.”

The River Road Trail, located along the eastern edge of Riverview Park, will be growing on its southern end by 1,000 feet. Chris Atkinson, director of the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department, is pleased to be adding another segment to the city’s trail system.
On Nov. 29, 2001, the Missouri Department of Transportation presented the tract of land which formerly served as the approach to the old Mark Twain Memorial Bridge to the city of Hannibal. Today, that tract of land is known as the Cardiff Hill Overlook.
The High Noon Entertainment filming crew was at Rockcliffe Mansion last fall recording a segment of “If Walls Could Talk,” for HGTV. It is tentatively scheduled to air sometime after the first of the year, possibly July 14, according to Leslie Wilson, line producer of the company.
Visitors to Hannibal’s historic district have a new “must-find” destination to add to their itinerary - the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau’s new satellite office. This new location is in the Breadeaux Pizza building, 200 N. Main St. The HCVB’s main office at 505 N. Third St. will still remain open to assist guests as well.
