Alzheimer's author to speak April 6

Author and celebrated nationwide speaker Jolene Brackey will be the featured speaker at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, 639 York, Quincy, Ill. Author and celebrated nationwide speaker Jolene Brackey will be the featured speaker at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6,  at the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, 639 York, Quincy, Ill.
Brackey focuses on looking beyond the disease’s challenges and advises families to focus more energy on making joyful moments.  Her speech is titled, “Tools for the Caregiver – Family Moments."
 

The annual program is co-sponsored by the Quincy Area Branch Alzheimer's Association and Blessing Hospital.  It is free and open to the public.

 

Brackey is founder of Enhanced Moments and author of the book, Creating Moments of Joy, a Journal for Caregivers. Both her business and her book are intended to help guide people through the Alzheimer’s journey through practical solutions and insights.  Her message of hope and encouragement, along with generous helpings of humor, are warmly embraced by family members and professional caregivers alike.

Advanced registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.  To register or for questions about the program, call Blessing Hospital, Educational Services at 217-223-8400, ext. 4830, or the Quincy Area Branch Alzheimer's Association at 217-228-1111.

 

The Alzheimer's Association, Central Illinois Chapter, provides services to caregivers and those with memory loss problems including education programs, 24-hour telephone Helpline, library, newsletter, advocacy, care consultations and registration in the national MedicAlert+Safe Return program.
