Last week, I read with interest a quote from U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof, during his timely photo-op visit to Hannibal during the flood preparations, saluting the “visionaries” responsible for contstructing the flood wall that protects Hannibal today. On two counts - as a trained journalist and as wife of one of those “visionaries,” I wondered why the Courier-Post wouldn’t have done a follow up featuring those visionaries.
In 1993 and 2008 and countless times in between, we’ve had reason to thank them, but we’ve been a bit tardy in doing so. Where can we get this kind of leadership today?
