Hannibal Clinic and the Kind Hearts dare patients and employees to help our community in the Canned Food Drive Challenge 2009.
Hannibal Clinic patients and employees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the Hannibal facility through Jan. 29 and those items will go to local food pantries.
“Hannibal Clinic employees are forming teams to create a competitive atmosphere,” said Kind Hearts Chairperson Debbie Maher. “Teams will compete for a prize that will be awarded to the team with the most non-perishable items.”
Patients may donate their items to help a specific team. All Hannibal Clinic reception desks in Hannibal are drop off locations.  Donations may also be given.  Checks may be written to HC Health Services. HC Health Services is a 501(c)(3) and is therefore tax deductible.
Hannibal Clinic and HC Health Services will match donations up to $2,000.
Kind Hearts is a Hannibal Clinic committee which raises money to help local families.  They make Christmas and Easter baskets for families in need, send care packages to the overseas military personnel, collect school supplies to help students and many other community activities.
“We’ve helped Hannibal Clinic patients and community members through other activities,” said Maher, “but never to the scale of this food drive.”
