First Friday Program unites care givers, doctor

Caregivers can “Spend an Hour with the Doctor,” SIU Quincy Family Practice physician Heidi Calipjo, M.D., at the Alzheimer Association’s First Friday program Sept. 5.  Dr. Calipjo will discuss Alzheimer’s disease, medications, and treatment modalities, and will answer questions from participants.
The First Friday program will be held at the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, 639 York St., and is free to the public although reservations are required. Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m., and the one-hour program will begin at Noon. Caregivers can also take advantage of respite care available through the Adult Day Center located at the Senior Center and through homemaker services. Advance registration is required for respite care.
The Alzheimer’s Association, Quincy Area Branch, provides services to caregivers and those with memory loss problems including education programs and 24-hour telephone Helpline, library.
