Pa’s Promise team wins Relay award

Relay for Life of Shelby County’s team, Pa’s Promise: There’s No Place Like Home, received the Team Spirit Award on Wednesday, June 11. Members of the team included Dorothy Wood and the Melvin and Wendeline Brumbaugh family, Bethel; Troy and Cindy Carlyle family, Shelbyville; and Danny and Ginger Wood family, Clarence. The team came together to remember Wendell Wood - husband, father, father-in-law, granddad, and great-granddad, in his fight against cancer in the last years of his life. CONTRIBUTED

Shelbina, MO —

The Central Planning Committee of Relay For Life of Shelby County met to bring closure to most 2008 team activities.  During the Wednesday, June 11 meeting, committee members shared what went well and where they would like to see changes.
All committee members felt well-pleased with the total funds raised to date - $35,619.47 - still just shy of the $36,000 goal set in October.
“Pa’s Promise: There’s No Place Like Home” was presented the Team Spirit Award based on the following rubric: 10 points for participation; 40 points for a first-place award during the evening; 30 points for a second-place rank during the evening events; and 20 points for a third-place standing in activities/events.
