Program addresses grief in the workplace

Quincy, IL —

A half-day training entitled, “Grief in the Workplace: Holding On and Letting Go” will help health care participants focus on ways to experience and work through loss and grief and explore support systems. The program will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Quincy Family and Senior Resource Center, 639 York St.
The program is cosponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, West Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging and John Wood Community College. Featured speakers will be Todd Shackelford, assistant director, WCIAAA; Barb Richmiller, program specialist, Alzheimer’s Association; Rev. Gary Schluckebier, Addicts Victorious, and John Tripp, senior lecturer in business administration, Culver Stockton College.
Topics include “Is the System Broken?”, “Staff as Family,” “Family Centered Grief,” and “After the Casseroles Stop Coming.”
Advance registration is required. A $15 registration fee includes continental breakfast and program materials. Facilities who send five or more employees will receive a $50 flat rate fee. Registration deadline is Sept. 18.
Four contact hours of continuing education are available for an additional $15 fee. CEUs are available for Illinois licensed social worker, Illinois nursing home administrator, activity director, respiratory care practitioner, funeral director, Missouri nursing home administrator, certified dietary manager and JWCC.
The program is open to the general public.
