Quincy area residents can attend an Alzheimer’s disease support group meeting Monday, May 19, aty 6:30 p.m. at the Alzheimer’s Association Quincy Area Branch Office. The office is located at the Quincy Area Senior & Family Resource Center, 639 York Street, Room 200.
Support Group facilitator will be Theresa Taylor, director of The Haven Alzheimer’s Unit, Sunset Home. Through participation in the informal group setting, family and friends can learn more about the disease, share caregiving ideas, express their feelings, hear about advances in research and advocacy, and help other caregivers in need. The meeting is open to the public.
The Quincy Area Branch is devoted to helping optimize the quality of life for more than 3,400 people with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss disorders in West Central Illinois and their families. The Quincy branch offers free family education programs, a 24-hour telephone helpline, library, agency newsletters, the nationwide Medic Alert+Safe Return program, promotion of research to eliminate the disease and advocacy activities.
