SIU cardiologist seeing patients

Dr. Tankut Onal, a specialist in pediatric cardiology, is now seeing patients on the second Tuesday of each month at Blessing Hospital, 11th and Broadway, Quincy. Onal is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.
 Treatment options for children seeing Dr. Onal at Blessing Hospital include electrocardiogram, holter and event monitors, and echocardiography. Complex cases are referred to St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield or St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
Onal is board eligible for certification by the American Board of Pediatrics.  Before joining SIU’s faculty in 2007, he completed a three-year fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Gainesville His research interests include pulmonary hypertension in children and cardiac MRI imaging.
