On July 11, 2009, community organizations from all over Marion County will pull together to host the Second Annual Marion County Back to School Health Fair. Children from across Marion County are invited to attend this event to prepare them to return to school.
The first event, held in 2008, served more than 800 children and their families. This year, an anticipated 1,500 children will receive free health, dental, hearing and vision screenings, free haircuts and free backpacks full of school supplies. The event is designed to insure that all children in Marion County can have a productive school year.
The Marion County Back to School Health Fair is from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 11 at the Mabee Sports Complex at Hannibal-LaGrange College. More than 30 vendors are expected to attend, helping parents get the information they need to help their children be as successful as possible.
This event is sponsored in part by: WGCA the Mix!, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Hannibal Regional Hospital, Faith Miracle Ministries, Dr. Steven Best, International Eyecare Center, the Lions Club, the Blueprint for Roadway Safety, Kids in Motion, F and M Bank and Trust Company, NECAC, HealthCare USA, Division of Family Services, Hannibal-LaGrange College, Community Health Center, Marion County Educare, F.A.C.T. and many other community partners.
