She shared this favorite casserole recipe, and I promised her I would use it on today’s Readers Page, and ask you to share your favorite recipes for inclusion on this page. One recipe a week will be something we all can look forward to.

The monthly Angel Food Ministries program - which offers boxes of food prepared to feed a family of four for a week - has been expanded to offer a box of allergen-free food.
Douglass Community Services’ monthly USDA food distribution for Marion County residents will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at 711 Grand Ave.

The Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary will hold a Soup and Sandwich Luncheon on Monday, Feb. 23. The menu includes soup, sandwich, dessert, and a beverage for $7, and will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The luncheon will be at the American Legion Hall located at 3891 Hwy MM in Hannibal.
Members of the Lewis and Marion County Cattlemen’s Association are raising money for local scholarships. The association is hosting a Cattlemen’s Banquet on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the American Legion building in Palmyra. The banquet will feature a complete steak dinner for $17 per person. Youth meals will be available for $8 for those 12 years old and younger.
The Hannibal Nutrition Center, under the direction of Debbie Catlett, was the recipient of a Community Betterment Award from the Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce, during the 100th annual meeting and banquet on Jan. 10. Terry Sampson, executive director of the chamber, said the award “is being presented to an organization that has a tremendous presence in Hannibal and continually makes major improvements. Under the direction of the board of directors, Executive Director Debbie Catlett has coordinated and overseen these efforts. The most recent efforts include an extensive capitol campaign for a new facility.”
The commodity foods that are distributed monthly by local agencies, such as Douglass Community Services in Hannibal, often include the same type of items, month after month. At DCS the food is distributed on the first Thursday of each month.
