All Wing Ding proceeds going to Great River Honor Flight

The wall-to-wall crowd that filled the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center in Hannibal, Mo., on Saturday, Jan. 28, took part in contests and taste-tested hot wings at seven booths, while helping fund the Great River Honor Flight scheduled in May. All past and present military personnel were admitted to the Wing Ding free.

 

Kids in Motion preparing for busy summer program

The Hannibal teens participating in the Kids in Motion summer pre-employment program do many service projects at local agencies and parks, including nursing homes, and some of the recipients also give back by hosting fund-raisers. One such event was a spaghetti dinner Friday, Jan. 27, served by residents at Willow Care Center.

The eighth annual Wing Ding sponsored by the Hannibal Jaycees and Miller Lite will be on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.
 

Hannibal woman decides to feed the hungry

At the end of October, Pam Rivera closed the Abby Rose in downtown Hannibal after five years. Early next year Rivera plans to re-open the restaurant for at least one day a week, not to turn a profit, but to meet what she believes is a local need - feeding Hannibal’s hungry.

Hannibal students learn lessons building gingerbread structures

It’s not uncommon at this time of year to find someone making a gingerbread house. But how often do you see such a structure built with swimming pools or American Disabilities Act compliance in mind? That is exactly what was done by 28 Hannibal fifth-graders, who are a part of the Logic Enrichment Academic Pursuit (LEAP) program.

Students sink teeth into gingerbread project

For many, thoughts of building a gingerbread house brings back fond memories of a winter afternoon spent at grandma’s side. For 28 Logic Enrichment Academic Pursuit (LEAP) students in Hannibal, they will remember their gingerbread-building experience as educational and fun.
