Approximately 85 people braved air temperatures in the 30s, a stiff westerly wind and frigid water to participate in the second annual Polar Plunge at the Hannibal marina on Saturday morning.
The number of participants exceeded the total who jumped in last year. The amount of money raised was also expected to be greater than last year’s total of $8,000. This year’s goal was $12,000. Final totals will be released by event organizers over the weekend or early next week. Proceeds from the plunge benefit Special Olympics.
Photos and a complete story will appear in Tuesday’s Courier-Post. Return to hannibal.net for photos and video from the event.
