Age:  17

Sport, name of school: Volleyball, basketball, ran track for two years and played soccer last year, Hannibal High School

My favorites

Pro athlete: Troy Polamalu. My youth minister always called me Troy Polamalu because I had really long hair and he would say it looks like his, I just think he plays a good game and hustles and goes hard.

Pro team: St. Louis Cardinals

What do you enjoy most about your sport and athletics? I enjoy the games the most, especially when we win. It’s a good thrill and a good energy boost when you get to go out on a floor and run up and down. Competition as well, I love competing.

Who inspires you in sports and why? My Dad inspires me because he pushes me really hard and has taught pretty much everything I know about basketball and other sports. He taught me to respect the game and respect the people playing and respect myself. To try my hardest and really go after it, so I really look up to him.

Is balancing academics and sports a challenge? Yeah, at times it gets really hard especially last year and this year because I have gotten harder and harder classes and I just don’t have as much time playing varsity because I have a later game and JV. It’s kind of hard, but I manage to do it.

What are your plans after graduating from high school? I plan on attending a four year college. I have narrowed my choices down to two I think. Hopefully going to play basketball at one of those and pursue education in elementary education and minor in special education or physical education.

What’s your favorite sport? Basketball

What do you like least about your sport? Losing, it’s tough to go out there and try your hardest and continue to lose, but we see results every game and we see positive results. We have to keep trying and getting out there..

What part of your game do you most need to improve? My dribbling, I’ve never been a dribbler and I think that would really help my game because I could take it to the hole more instead of relying on passing and stuff.

How long have you been playing? For a long time, since way back in the YMCA days.

Who has impacted your athletic career most? Probably my Dad again because he is the one who got me started in it and pushed me to do my best.

Will you continue to play your sport after high school? Yes, I plan on playing basketball.
