Annual parade scheduled for 10 a.m.
The Palmyra Chamber of Commerce is continuing a tradition not easily found elsewhere in the state or country: A Flag Day parade. This year's parade will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.
The parade will be on Main Street from Palmyra High School to the Marion County Courthouse. As of Tuesday morning, 40 entries have signed up to participate. After the parade there will be a special flag-raising at the courthouse by the American Legion and local Boy Scouts troops.
Gene Wharton will provide special music. Eagle Scouts Doug Bross and Heath Ehret will present a special flag folding ceremony.
There will be a few local food venders will set up shop on the courthouse square so folks will have the opportunity to enjoy the day.
