"That's Entertainment!" will be the theme for the upcoming Monroe City Singers annual Spring Concert, which will be presented on April 26, 28,  and 29 at the United Methodist Church at 218 Catherine Street in Monroe City.

The 55-member choir invites audiences to enjoy ten a cappella and accompanied choral pieces. The selections, in addition to the title song, include "Africa" which was made popular by the singing group 'Toto', "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" from 'The Lion King,' "And All That Jazz" from the musical, 'Chicago,' and "Let the River Run" from the movie 'Working Girl.' Also included will be arrangements of "Amazing Grace," the spiritual "Dry Bones," and a stirring arrangement of "Calling My Children Home," which depicts a slave mother mourning her lost children. A highlight of the program will be "Rodgers and Hammerstein on Broadway," a medley of 12 tunes from their most popular musicals.  It features selections from "Sound of Music," "Oklahoma!," "South Pacific," "State Fair," "The King and I," and "Carousel."   The concert will close with a poignant arrangement of "America, the Beautiful." Twenty soloists and narrators will be featured throughout the program.

Once again returning to the program is the MC Jazz Band, a 14 member group performing a set of three tunes made popular by the Beatles, including "She Loves You," "Hey Jude," and "I Want to Hold Your Hand."

The Singers and Jazz Band are under the direction of Todd Richman with Marsha Crowley and Lana Anderson as accompanists. Guy Callison is the percussionist.  Singers in the choir represent 14 area communities and have been rehearsing weekly since late January.

Times of the performance are 7 p.m. April 26 and 28, and 3 p.m. On April 29.

There is no admission charge for the 75 minute concert, however donations will be accepted to offset expenses for music & the rehearsal venue.
