Regional jazz artist, composer and educator, Audra Sergel joins the trio “Katie Wood & Friends: JAZZ” for a guest appearance Saturday, July 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rustic Oak Grill & Pub, Hannibal.

Regional jazz artist, composer and educator, Audra Sergel joins the trio “Katie Wood & Friends: JAZZ” for a guest appearance Saturday, July 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rustic Oak Grill & Pub, Hannibal. Accomplished Columbia jazz musician Jonathan Kies, will be playing bass. Jazz vocalist and trio leader Katie Wood said,  “I’m thrilled to welcome Audra and Jonathan. I hope lots of their Hannibal friends and fans will come out.  It’s going to be a good time.” 

Sergel is house musician at the Wine Cellar & Bistro in Columbia, lends her talents to the Americana band, The Upsides, and also appears with the Joel Anderson Jazz Ensemble. Sergel is an adjunct faculty member in MU Department of Theater and teaches voice and piano at Sergel Music Studio.  Her album, “Forgotten Songs”, releases in July.  She previously taught at Stephens College, also in Columbia. 

Sergel is co-founder/collaborator of the award winning Big Muddy Opera Company and has directed numerous midwest musical productions.  As a composer Sergel’s collaborative musical, “Starting with My Voice” debuted at the Chicago Musical Theater Festival in 2014.  Her work “Sassmouth: The Musical” received the Jackie White Memorial Award in 2017.
