HHS art instructors James Zimmerman, Lisa Wiese and Christina Strode announced winners from the Hannibal High School exhibit held during the recent Hannibal Arts Council’s Young Masters Exhibit. Awards were presented on May 2 at a closing awards ceremony and along with HAC Select Awards presented to award-winning pieces chosen from the fifth grade, eighth grade and high school participants.

Best of Show - “Cyclomatic” mixed media drawing by Madison Ketsenburg; Best 2D - “Shiny Apple” graphite drawing by Taylor Evans and Best 3D - “Fox and Skull” clay and oil pastel sculpture by Jordan Wagner.

Art Excellence Awards were given for “Joe” graphite drawing by Seth Steinman; “Clint” charcoal drawing by Chase Woodside; “The Raven” charcoal drawing by Brenna Quinn; “Comic Color” color pencil drawing by Jake Riefesel; clay and oil pastel sculpture by Makenna Tourney; “Spot the Giraffe” pen and ink drawing by Katie Beilsmith; “Cubism” oil pastel portrait by Hannah Miller; “Rainy Day” linocut print by Clare Thomas. 

Honorable Mentions were given for “Cloud #5” pen and ink drawing by Madison Ketsenburg; “Cactus” tempera painting by Hannah Miller; “Nelumbo Nucifera” clay and patina sculpture; “Destruction” linocut print by Makenna Tourney; “Ganesha” clay and oil pastel sculpture by Taylor Vandelicht; “Jimi” acrylic painting by Kearston Creason.
