Melinda Bateman and Anthony (Tony) Smallwood, both of New London, are planning to be united in marriage Sept. 8, 2009, by Judge David Mobley. A reception is planned from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 11, 2009, at the Lions Club building in New London. All friends and family are invited. Casual attire, please.
Melinda is the daughter of Betty Bateman, New London, and the late Milton Bateman. She is a 1982 graduate of Mark Twain High School.
Tony is the son of Marvin and Dorothy Smallwood, New London. He is a 1984 graduate of Mark Twain High School. He has been employed as a warehouse operator for General Mills for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1987 to 1995, and participated in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He has served in the U.S. Army Reserves since 2006 - Global War on Terror/Operation Iraqi Freedom.
