John Wood Community College’s Community Education Office will sponsor a one-day trip Sept. 19 to a farm near Newark, Mo., where participants will learn to make homemade apple butter and bread. Registrations must be made by September 17. To register, call (217) 641-4941.
Participants will spend a relaxing day on a farm, making apple butter from organically grown apples. They also will learn the art of making the perfect loaf of bread from fresh-ground organic flour. Students will get to sample both and take home a jar of fresh apple butter. Students will eat lunch at the café in Newark.
The group will leave the JWCC campus at 48th and Harrison in Quincy Sept. 19 at 8 a.m. and return to campus at approximately 4 p.m. The cost is $50 per person, which includes transportation. The cost of lunch is not included.
This noncredit/personal-interest offering is not funded with tax dollars and must be self-supporting.
