Ethan Colbert, a junior at BGHS, was recently elected Missouri State Reporter at the state convention of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). This is the first time in the Bowling Green High School Chapter history that Bowling Green will be home to the Missouri State FBLA Reporter. Colbert will be only the second state officer to come from the Bowling Green R-1 School District. He has served as president of the local FBLA chapter for the 2007-2008 school year. BGHS chapter sponsors for FBLA and business teachers, Nancy Bibb and Stacy Smith, accompanied students.
Colbert’s duties as state officer include publishing the State FBLA Newsletter and other state publications, to organize press releases from chapters’ across the state, to forward state news to the National FBLA office, to update and prepare material for the FBLA website, and to promote the development of local, district, state, and National FBLA. Mrs. Nancy Bibb, chapter sponsor, will serve on Missouri’s state FBLA advisory board for the upcoming school year.
While serving as State Reporter, Colbert and advisor Bibb, will travel to Atlanta, Georgia this summer with the other Missouri State FBLA officers for the National FBLA Leadership Conference and Institute for Leaders. Colbert and Bibb will also be traveling to National Fall Leadership Conference with the State FBLA Chapter.
Missouri Future Business Leaders of America has over 15,900 members in the state and 428 chapters. Missouri FBLA is second in the nation for its number of members.
While attending the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) state convention in Columbia, members of the BGHS chapter attended workshops on a variety of topics including cyber bullying, fundraising, leadership and interview etiquette tips.
Colbert is the son of Roger and Julie Colbert of Frankford. He is the grandson of Harold (Robie) and Wanda Dietle of Frankford and Mrs. Louise Colbert Carroll of Bowling Green and the late Robert Clarence Colbert.
