The process of filling teaching vacancies continues in the Hannibal public school district.
“I’m hoping that by next month they’ll all be filled,” said Assistant Superintendent Susan Johnson, during Wednesday night’s meeting of the board of education.
Two of the most challenging slots to fill will be that of respiratory care instructor and instrumental music teacher, according to Johnson.
In other certified personnel changes:
• Sara Kurz, vocal music teacher at the high school, was granted maternity leave from Aug. 18 through Oct. 15.
• Christina Carrigan was hired as a vocal music teacher at Stowell Elementary School. She received her bachelors degree in 2006 from Indiana University. She has two years prior teaching experience.
• Jennifer Creason was hired as a Pre-K teacher at Eugene Field Elementary School. She received her bachelors degree in 2007 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has no prior teaching experience.
• Regina DeLaPorte was hired as a special services teacher at Eugene Field Elementary School. She received her bachelors degree in 1995 from Hannibal-LaGrange College. She has five years prior teaching experience.
• Michelle Ford was hired as a first grade teacher at Mark Twain Elementary School. She received her bachelors degree from Hannibal-LaGrange College. She has 10 years prior teaching experience.
• Jennifer Grannis-Fong was hired as an autism teacher at Oakwood Elementary School. She received her bachelors degree in 2007 from Hannibal-LaGrange College. She has no prior teaching experience.
• Matthew Hudson was hire as a biology teacher at the high school. He received her bachelors degree in 1999 from Missouri Valley College and his masters degree in 2005 from William Woods University. He has no prior teaching experience.
• Heather Kite was hired as a speech implementor at Stowell and Oakwood elementary schools. She received her bachelors degree in 2008 from the Quincy University. She has no prior teaching experience.
• Noelle Pagliara was hired as a first grade teacher at Oakwood Elementary School. She received her bachelors degree in 2007 from the Quincy University. She has one year prior teaching experience.
• Heather Scott was hired as a third grade teacher at Veterans Elementary School. She received her bachelors degree in 2008 from Culver-Stockton College. She has no prior teaching experience.
• Matthew Smith was hired as a title teacher at Stowell Elementary School. He received his bachelors degree in 2004 from the Quincy University. He has four years prior teaching experience.
• Melissa Woodside was hired as a math teacher at the high school. She received her bachelors degree in 2000 from Hannibal-LaGrange College and masters in 2007 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has one year prior teaching experience.
• Elizbeth Griffith, parent educator, resigned her position at the end of the 2007-08 school year.
• Jeff Nelson, instrumental music instructor at the high school and middle school, resigned his position at the end of the 2007-08 school year.
The hirings are for the 2008-09 school year.
In support services changes:
• Richard Gillum was hired as a custodian at Eugene Field Elementary School.
• Cindy Jewell, secretary to the principal at the middle school, resigns her position effective June 30.
