The Ralls County R-2 School Board has agreed to seek bids for a tornado-safe multi-purpose building.
Voters approved a no-tax increase bond issue earlier this month to finance the project, as well as roof repairs at New London Elementary and driveway completion at the high school in Center.
The multi-purpose building would be 100-by-100 feet and include an enclosed walkway from the junior high. A federal grant will part of the construction cost. It would be built to withstand winds of up to 250 miles per hour,
The building also would feature offices, locker rooms, an emergency generator, a data system and bleachers.
The board also accepted a bid for snow removal and appointed Jake Moss as district safety coordinator.
