North Shelby students will be making up lost school days later in the school year. The decision was made by the board of education during its meeting earlier this week.
The 2009-2010 calendar was amended to include March 12 and April 1 as makeup days. School will be dismissed at 1:05 p.m. on March 12.
In other business:
• The upcoming bond issue was discussed. The ballot language for the April election has been finalized and will be filed with the Shelby and Macon County clerks. A “Request for Proposal” letter was reviewed by the board. It will be sent to architects/engineers requesting proposals to develop a set of specifications for electrical upgrades, plumbing, and doors and windows. Proposals received will be review during the February meeting.
• The board approved the addition of embedded credits issued by Macon Vo-Tech to North Shelby students.
• It was reported that the Quincy Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. will be replacing the center piece on the scoreboard at a cost of $3,122.
• The board approved selling surplus property at a future public sale.
• The board approved setting up a $1,000 maximum expense fund for the 2010-11 North Shelby Trap Shooting Program with $500 being provided by the FFA chapter and $500 from district funds. If the funds exceeded the $1,000 cap, the FFA advisor and chapter would need to find a way to cover the cost.
