Another step toward reopening the Sawyer’s Creek Fun Park has been taken. John and Judy Kenison, the park’s new owners, announced Monday they have entered into a lease agreement regarding the Riverview Café with Bill and Doris Scheiner, and their daughter, Melissa Hamilton.
The Scheiners and Hamilton have 14 years of restaurant experience. They currently own and operate the Rustic Oak Steakhouse located on Route J at Mark Twain Lake. The family plans to make the restaurant at Sawyer’s Creek their second restaurant.
According to the Kenisons, they were approached by the Scheiners regarding the restaurant. The Scheiners met the Kenisons’ criteria of finding someone to run the Riverview Café who has a “good track record in the restaurant business” and who will operate the restaurant in such a way that it “will enhance and not interfere with the atmosphere of a family fun park.”
In late January the Kenisons announced that their daughter, Jeanne Youngwirth, would be the facility’s general manager.
The Kenisons, who bought the park at auction in mid-December, hope to have the facility open by May or shortly thereafter.
