Just over half the establishments visited passed the Hannibal Police Department’s latest on-site compliance check in regard to the availability of alcoholic beverages to minors. The results of the check, which was conducted June 19, were released Monday.
According to HPD Chief Lyndell Davis, of the nine local convenience stores and drinking establishments visited, five were found to be in compliance. Those businesses in compliance were: Abel’s Quik Shop, 1201 Broadway; Ayerco Convenience Center, 2901 James Road; Pick-A-Dilly, 1329 Mark Twain Ave.; BP Amoco, 624 Mark Twain Ave.; The North Wall, 206 North St. Those identified by the HPD for not being in compliance were: Broadway Bar, 712 Broadway; Mug shots, 313 S. Main St.; River City Billiards, 603 Broadway; Rumor Has It, 125 North Main St.
Thus far in 2009 the HPD has conducted a total of 39 compliance checks at various businesses in Hannibal and have found a total of six not in compliance.
“We will remain diligent in our efforts to address underage drinking in our community and part of that effort will be to conduct future alcohol sale compliance checks,” said Davis in a press release.
