  • One of these things is not like the others: Former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara, 1976 horror classicThe Omen, and Lifetime, the female-skewing network known for salacious soaps. Yet they'll all be working together.
Mazzara is developing a follow-up to The Omen for Lifetime, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The horror-drama will be called Damien, after the lead character in the film, and follow the now grown-up man as he comes to terms with the fact that he is the Antichrist. Not your typical coming-of-age story!
Fall TV preview: 2014-2015 new shows
For Lifetime, this straight horror marks a considerable departure for the network that gave us The Craigslist Killer andThe Client List.
This is the first television gig for Mazzara since his controversial firing from The Walking Dead. Under Mazzara's watch, the AMC zombie show reached record ratings, but AMC decided to part ways with Mazzara after creative differences. It is also Mazzara's first sale under his deal with Fox Television Studios.
Horror film re-imaginings are pretty hot on television now. NBC recently did a do-over of Rosemary's Baby, and A&E'sBates Motel is a prequel to Psycho.
