  • Mary Ann Howald, 69, of New London, Missouri, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at her home.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of New London, MO. Pastor Dan Peters and Pastor Brian Ninedorf will officiate. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London, MO.
    Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
    Mrs. Howald was born October 28, 1944, in Hannibal, MO to Campbell and Jaunita Helms Matson.
    She was married to James A. Howald on July 21, 1962, in New London, MO. He survives.
    Other survivors include 2 children, Marnita Cummings of Columbia, MO, and Michael A. Howald (Vicki) of New London, MO; 2 grandchildren, Mary Lou Cummings and Gabriel James Howald; 3 step grandchildren, Leslie Roberts (Chris), Amber Krigbaum and Austin Hildebrand; 3 step great grandchildren, Ava, Annabell and Owen Roberts; and her beloved pet dog “Rusty”.
    She is preceded in death by her parents.
    Mrs. Howald was a homemaker, farmer, pianist and organist. She played at church and for countless weddings and funerals over the past 50 years. Mary Ann first began to play at the age of 13 at the First Christian Church in New London and later at the First Baptist Church in New London. Mary Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church of New London, Missouri. She was active in her church and choir and enjoyed working with children and in the nursery. In the past Mary Ann and her husband were active in the Farm Bureau. Mary Ann enjoyed reading Dale Evans and Roy Rogers and liked spending time with friends and family and sharing a fried chicken dinner.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Barnes Jewish Transplant Team in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers will be Tim Flowerree, John Ferguson, Bill Johnson, Kyle Jameson, Keith Miller, and Mark Cummings.
