A Pike County, Mo., man has been charged in connection with a shooting shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte reports that Steven Rusher has been charged with Class C felony domestic assault in the second degree, a Count II Class C felony of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and a Count III felony count of armed criminal action.
Deputies were dispatched to 14399 Pike 340 on Wednesday after a man reported he had accidentally shot his wife.
Colleen Rusher, 42, received a gunshot wound to her forehead, Korte reported. She was transported to a St. Louis area hospital and was listed in serious condition on Thursday morning.
The only other occupant of the house at the time of the incident was the Rushers’ juvenile son, Korte said.
Judge David Ash set the bond at $25,000, cash only. Rusher was in custody at the Pike County Jail as of Thursday afternoon.
