Gary Lee Mook, 64, of rural Palmyra, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at his home. Gary was born December 23, 1949, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Robert Lee and Gladys Luella Butler Mook. He married Mary Sue Bier March 23, 2012, in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives of the home.
Survivors include, sons: L. Benjamin (Amanda) Mook of Kansas City, Mo.; and G. James (Brigid) Mook of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; step-daughters: Crystal Johnston of Palmyra; Virginia Lee Rosenmeyer of Hannibal; mother, Gladys Luella Mook of Hannibal; siblings: Larry (Patty) Mook of Albert Lea, MN, Terry (Sheryl) Mook of Withers Mill, Mo., Jerry Mook of Withers Mill, Perry (Brenda) Mook of New London, Mo., Rebecca (Dennis) McCarty of Hannibal, and Regina (Tom) Lampton of Hannibal; grandchildren: Annabelle and Luella Mook of Kansas City, Mo.; step-grandchildren: Audrin, Aspen, Jayken, Ryden, and Dalton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Roberta Meyers.
Mr. Mook was retired as a railroad conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
Gary attended Providence School, Palmyra Schools, and graduated from Hannibal High School in 1968.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the VFW Post # 2446 and the American Legion Post #55 both in Hannibal. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and taking part in outdoor activities. He loved to sing, a devotion that began with his Church family years prior. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Hannibal, Missouri.
Private Family Funeral services will be held at the Providence Baptist Church in Hannibal. Rev. Roger Freels and Rev. Bob Craig will officiate. Burial will follow at the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. A Public Celebration of his Life will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Kerley’s Grill in Palmyra, Missouri from 4-7  p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Travis Mook, Mike Meyers, Adam Bock, Matt Lewton, Tory Smith and Troy Shade.
Honorary Bearers will be Butch Wallace Shuck, Gary Douglas, Darrold Hill and Terry Smith.
