  • After extinguishing a garage fire at 2001 Grace St. on Sunday, July 13, the Hannibal Fire Department reported the fire was determined to be incendiary and requested help from the public in solving the crime.

  • After extinguishing a garage fire at 2001 Grace St. on Sunday, July 13, the Hannibal Fire Department reported the fire was determined to be incendiary and requested help from the public in solving the crime.
    The HFD provided the following report of the fire. The fire department responded to a report of a structure fire behind 2001 Grace St. at 2:34 p.m. July 13.
    Ten firefighters responded to the fire and found heavy smoke and fire coming from a two-car detached garage.
    The fire was contained and extinguished within 13 minutes of their arrival. The fire department was on the scene until 4:24 p.m., completing salvage and overhaul operations.
    Also at the scene were the Marion County Ambulance District, Hannibal City Building Inspector’s office, Charter Communications, the Hannibal Board of Public Works and Hannibal Police Department.
    The garage was unoccupied. It had heavy smoke, fire and heat damage throughout. One of the surrounding homes sustained moderate heat damage to its exterior.
    The HFD, HPD and Missouri Division of Fire Safety helped investigate the fire and determined the cause to be incendiary in nature. Fire investigators were on the scene until 5:21 p.m. July 13.
