  • Carlene R. Shade, 80, of Palmyra, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at her home.
    Carlene was born August 30, 1933, in West Ely, Missouri, to Carl and Ella Bode Frankenbach.
    Carlene was married to Ronald (Sonny) Shade February 11, 1956, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Ely, Missouri. He survives of the home.
    Survivors include sons, Matt Shade and wife, Shirley, of Palmyra, and Brett Shade of Palmyra; grandchildren, Glen Shade, Michael Shade, Douglas Shade, Jene Shade and Danielle (Damien) Wagner; sister, Irene Schachtsiek of Monroe City, Mo.; and brothers, Marvin Frankenbach, Norbert (Sandra) Frankenbach and Robert (Kaye) Frankenbach, all of Palmyra.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leslie Frankenbach; sister, Bertha Fee; and an infant sister.
    Mrs. Shade was a devoted farm wife and family bookkeeper. She raised registered quarter horses with her husband for many years.
    She attended Immanuel Lutheran School of West Ely and was a 1951 graduate of Palmyra High School.
    Carlene was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid Society LWMI, charter member of the Cloverleaf Saddle Club, American Quarter Horse Association, and served as an election judge in Marion County for many years. She was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in West Ely, Missouri.
    Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church and/or Community Loving Care Hospice.
    Pallbearers will be Kevin Frankenbach, Troy Shade, Mike Haydon, Ryan Shade, Paul Frankenbach and Fred Schachtsiek.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Shade, Michael Shade, Doug Shade, Jene Shade and Danielle Wagner.
