  • Phyllis Jean Stewart Dopp, formerly of Hannibal, was born Oct. 10, 1938, to Phillip J Stewart and Verna M. Ragland Harrison. She died on April 13, 2014, at her home, surrounded by family in Chandler, Ariz.

  • Phyllis Jean Stewart Dopp, formerly of Hannibal, was born Oct. 10, 1938, to Phillip J Stewart and Verna M. Ragland Harrison. She died on April  13, 2014, at her home, surrounded by family in Chandler, Ariz.
    Phyllis is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Robert Joseph Dopp. Other survivors include one sister, Judy Morris and husband, Ronnie, of Eureka, Ill,; her cousin and close friend, Linda Cook and husband, Ronnie, of Frankford, Mo ; six children, Stewart Acosta and wife, Kelly, of Springfield, Mo.; Angela Wilson and husband, Phil, of Mexico, Mo.; Liz Johnson and husband, W.O., of Chandler, Ariz.; Adell Greene and partner, Kevin, of Canton, Ill.; Stephen Dopp and partner, Jon Sheffield, of Hallsville, Mo., and Anita Orf and husband, Brian, of Bowling Green, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    Phyllis’s passion was literature. She lectured at Quincy University until 2003. She continued to teach after moving to Arizona at CGCC, then ASU and was preparing to teach this semester.
    Phyllis volunteered at Chandler Center of the Arts. She was active in a book club. After she left Quincy University a book fund Scholarship was initiated in her name. The family is asking memorials be made to Quincy University with memo stating “Phyllis Dopp Book Fund” at 1800 College Ave. Quincy, IL 62301.
    The family expresses their sincere gratitude to friends, coworkers and to the Hospice of the Valley for their thoughts, prayers and care.
