  • Three ejected from truck in collision

  • Six area residents were injured in a collision at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in rural Lewis County, Mo.
    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident was on Route D one mile south of La Belle, Mo.
    Officers reported Brooklyn M. Myers, 19, of Knox City, Mo., was driving a northbound 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt and crossed the center line. Her car hit a southbound 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Dale E. Hartsock, 37, of La Belle.
    After the collision, the Hartsock truck went off the left side of the road and overturned several times.
    Myers, who was not wearing a seat belt, had moderate injuries. Her infant passenger, Amiya Smith, was using a safety device and was not injured.
    Hartsock and his four passengers were injured. Hartsock suffered serious injuries, and Cory L. Leach, 36, of Quincy, Ill., had moderate injuries.
    Joseph W. Chatfield, 27, of La Belle, Matthew C. Norcross, 23, of La Belle, and Kendall O. Zajac, 23, of Ursa, Ill., were ejected from the truck. Chatfield and Norcross had serious injuries and Zajac, moderate injuries. Hartsock’s passengers were not using safety devices.
    All the occupants of both vehicles were taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
