The project

A parish center is being built at 218 S. Maple Ave. in Hannibal. The two-level structure will feature 5,400 square feet.

The parish offices will be housed in the new building. In addition there will be ample space for meetings and funeral luncheons.

There will be a kitchenette, restrooms and storage space for parish records on the lower level. The upper level will have a banquet room with seating for 100 people, a full kitchen and restrooms.

What’s
happening

In the past week the business offices in the lower level have been occupied by Holy Family staff members, according to Janice Rupp of Holy Family Church.

“We moved in one day last week,” said Rupp, noting that some offices are still being set up and items are being hung on walls.

Some final exterior work was also wrapped up.

“They just finished installing some safety railings. I think that finished up the exterior work,” said Rupp.

What’s next

“They’re just finishing up a couple of things,” said Rupp, regarding the building’s upper level.

Anticipated cost

The projected cost of the construction project is $1,047,000.

Who’s paying

The money necessary to pay for the center has already been pledged by church members. The pledges were made over the past year during the “Living our Faith, Building our Vision” fund-raising campaign.

Projected date for completion

The completion of the work in the upper level is expected soon.

According to Rupp, an open house will likely be scheduled at some point in June.
