Velma Louise Dexter, 88 of Hunnewell, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born June 10, 1925, in Huntington, Missouri, the daughter of Elmer Harrison and Nadine Jewell Clark Turpin.
Louise was a graduate of Monroe City High School. She was a member of the Monroe City Christian Church, Monroe City, Missouri. Louise worked for the Henderson Produce Company as a young adult. She enjoyed raising her family and spending time with them as much as possible. She enjoyded working in the garden.
She married Ernest Eugene Dexter September 24, 1946, he survives of the home.
Also surviving are three sons: Larry Harrison Dexter and wife Judy, Warsaw, Missouri; Dennis Eugene Dexter, Hunnewell, Missouri; and Ernest Richard Dexter and wife Melinda, Monroe City, Missouri.
Two daughters: Margaret Jewell Crain and husband Mike, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Gena Diane Hays and husband Patrick, St. Claire, Missouri.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five sisters Dela Mae Wisehart, Lena Thompson, Ruth Montgomery, Veda Porter and Bonnie Borrowman.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Garner Funeral Chapel, Monroe City, Missouri. Rev. Steve Goughnour will officiate. Burial will be from the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Hunnewell, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Neal Alsup, Brandon Crain, Mark Crain, Doug Dexter, Jason Dexter and Chris Dexter. Memorials have been suggested to the Monroe City Christian Church, Monroe City, Missouri.
