Another portion of the downtown improvement project was underway Monday morning at the city-owned parking lot at North Main Street and Bird Street in Hannibal.
“We’re actually just putting it back, using the same blocks and just rebuilding it,” said Brian Chaplin, project manager for the city of Hannibal. “We’ll fill it up with some nice mulch and flowers to make it look decorative down there.”
According to Chaplin, the planter was dismantled when new sidewalk was being installed in that area last year.
“We had to remove it and put a new foundation underneath of it,” he said.
The reconstruction should not take long.
“I think they’ll have it done by the end of the week. They’re actually going on it pretty quickly now,” said Chaplin.
Also this week a new water fountain could be installed in a small park located in the same block of North Main Steet as the planter, only on the west side of the street.
