  • Helen L. Fitzgerald, 78, of Ilasco, Missouri, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Monroe City Manor in Monroe City, MO.
    A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014,  at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal, MO. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Hannibal.  
    Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
    Mrs. Fitzgerald was born March 7, 1936, in Hannibal, MO, to Anthony and Catherine Kosciz Wojcik.
    She was married to John W. Fitzgerald on June 9, 1956, in New London, MO. He preceded her in death March 21, 1993.
    Survivors include two children, Kelly Meyer (Jeff) of Monroe City, MO, and Scott Fitzgerald (Brenda) of Hannibal, MO; three grandchildren; Jason, Andrew and Cassie; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Stephen Wojcik (Twila) of Hannibal, MO.
    She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Sophia Allensworth, John Wojcik, Stella Hoskins, Joe Wojcik, Mary Roach and Walter Wojcik.
    Mrs. Fitzgerald was a graduate of Ilasco High School. She worked as a cook for over 35 years at the Mark Twain Dinette. Helen liked playing bingo and loved spending time with her family, grandkids and great-grandkids. She also enjoyed her her cats and dogs. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and Holy Family Catholic Church.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Davita Dialysis, in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers will be Anthony Meyer, Josh Lee, Andrew Fitzgerald, Cassie Lee, Jason McArthur and Aime Fitzgerald.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Wojcik and Richard Roach.
